About FUNIDES
FUNIDES is an independent thinking institution that specializes in research and policy analysis in the areas of socio-economic development and institutional reform.
Philosophy
The economic and social development of Nicaragua requires the collaboration between the private sector, civil society, and the government. We believe that the private sector must be an engine of economic growth, and as such, collaborate with the development of an active and well-informed society that demands accountability and transparency from the government. We believe that the government must establish the appropriate conditions to strengthen the rule of law and generate employment in order to reduce poverty and generate greater welfare for the population.
Thus, FUNIDES recognizes a prominent need to formulate and implement policies to strengthen institutions, accountability, and compliance with the laws. These policies must guarantee macroeconomic stability and increase productivity. Similarly, our approach encourages the most vulnerable members of society to have greater access to quality health and education, basic infrastructure, and social services.
